About the role
Overview
Dries Van Noten, a renowned fashion house founded in 1986 in Antwerp, Belgium, is seeking a skilled Patternmaker to join their Studio team. Under the creative direction of Julian Klausner, this role is critical in translating creative visions into exceptional ready-to-wear collections for men and women. The ideal candidate will play a key part in developing innovative garments through expert pattern-making and technical craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
Translate creative concepts and sketches into precise patterns and prototypes across all ready-to-wear categories
Collaborate closely with Studio and Design teams throughout the creative development process
Develop first toiles and prototypes using advanced draping, moulage, and flat pattern cutting techniques
Research and explore innovative volume, silhouette, and garment construction methods
Actively participate in fitting sessions and propose creative construction solutions
Interpret designs while maintaining the house's creative identity
Adapt collection pieces for styling, showroom, and runway presentations
Collaborate with ateliers to ensure creative integrity of each piece
Support development of innovative construction techniques balancing craftsmanship and wearability
Work within collection timelines and support Studio during key milestones
Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience in luxury or high fashion ready-to-wear
Expert skills in draping, moulage, pattern cutting, and garment construction
Sophisticated understanding of silhouette, proportions, and fabric behavior
Strong couture and flou knowledge with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to transform creative ideas into refined, wearable garments
Experience working in fast paced creative environments
Creative, solution oriented, and highly collaborative mindset
Strong sense of precision and craftsmanship
Nice-to-Have Skills
Knowledge of Lectra software
Dutch language skills
