This is a broad, hands-on HR Advisor role for someone who thrives working close to the business and enjoys variety in their day-to-day work. You will be a key link within the organisation, supporting employees, managers, and store managers across a wide range of HR topics. The role combines advisory responsibility with practical involvement, meaning you are not just giving guidance but also preparing documents, following up on processes, and keeping things moving.
You will report to the Finance Director and work closely with the Sales Director, who oversees the retail stores. Because part of the store network is based in Belgium, you will also deal with Belgian HR and payroll processes, coordinating with the external social secretariat. Together with the HR employee, you ensure that HR administration, personnel files, contracts, payroll mutations, and other HR processes run smoothly and accurately.
Responsibilities
Guide and manage absenteeism (verzuim) trajectories in line with Dutch (and where relevant, Belgian) legislation
Support managers with performance conversations, contract matters, leave, employment conditions, and outflow processes
Maintain oversight of personnel files and ensure all HR dossiers are accurate, complete, and up to date
Advise managers and store managers on a wide range of HR topics in a clear, practical, and timely manner
Monitor the quality and follow-up of HR administration together with the HR employee, while staying actively involved in operational tasks
Coordinate Belgian HR and payroll processes in collaboration with the social secretariat
Pick up ongoing HR projects relevant to the organisation, including changes in legislation, employment conditions, employee insurance, pension, absenteeism policy, BHV, RI&E, and pay transparency
Practically improve HR processes and ensure they remain clear, reliable, and workable for the organisation
Support the Finance Director with personnel budgets and HR reporting
Know when to escalate or align with the Finance Director, managers, or external specialists
