About the role
Overview
Would you like to contribute to leading research on circular textiles within the cross-border FiberFact project? As a postdoctoral researcher at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, you will work in a multidisciplinary Dutch-German consortium developing robust analytical methods to determine the recycled content of textile fibers. Your work will support the critical transition toward a circular textile industry.
Responsibilities
Develop and validate analytical methods to determine the presence and quantity of recycled cotton in textiles
Conduct advanced analytical techniques including degree of polymerization analysis using viscometry, SEC, spectroscopy, optical and electron microscopy, and fiber length distribution measurements
Collaborate closely with consortium partners, including universities and industrial partners
Contribute domain knowledge and analytical input for AI based modeling
Develop methodologies for synthetic and regenerated fibers
Disseminate research results through scientific publications, presentations, and seminars
Contribute to project deliverables, milestones, and reporting
Supervise students conducting research subprojects
Requirements
PhD (or equivalent) in analytical chemistry, polymer chemistry, materials science, or related discipline
Experience in laboratory method development and analytical techniques
Experience in textile or biopolymer characterization is preferred
Expertise or willingness to develop skills in data analysis using statistical methods and AI driven approaches
Strong communication, planning, and scientific writing skills
Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
