Overview

At Stella McCartney, we are seeking a passionate and innovative Senior Embroidery Designer to join our creative team. This role is critical in driving our commitment to sustainable luxury fashion, combining cutting-edge design techniques with environmental consciousness. The ideal candidate will lead embroidery design and development for our Ready-to-Wear collections, collaborating closely with our Creative and Design Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on embroidery techniques, materials, and market trends, with a strong focus on sustainability

  • Create detailed research packs and mood boards for design team presentations

  • Develop in-house embroidery swatches and technical specifications

  • Select embroidery materials that align with creative vision, price points, and sustainability goals

  • Collaborate with product development and embroidery teams in Italy

  • Lead embroidery development for special projects and VIP requests

  • Manage seasonal embroidery budgets and merchandising targets

  • Negotiate with suppliers and ensure adherence to sustainability requirements

  • Maintain and update the embroidery archive

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in luxury fashion embroidery

  • Expert knowledge of embroidery techniques: threadwork, beading, broiderie anglaise, sequins, hotfix

  • Strong relationships with luxury embroidery suppliers

  • Deep understanding of fabric, garment construction, and manufacturing

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

  • Exceptional attention to detail in color matching and design accuracy

  • Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
