Aaiko is looking for a strong, conceptual designer with a sharp eye for branding. The Fashion Designer is central to the creative process, developing collections from brand identity, trends and commercial insight. You are involved from inspiration and collection frame to final product, working closely with the Design, Marketing, Buying and Product Technician teams, in daily contact with overseas suppliers and as the sparring partner for the Creative Director.
This role asks for a solid feel for fashion, trends and commerce, and the ease of translating a brand story into striking, consistent designs. Aaiko wants collections that are innovative and recognisable at the same time, and a designer who knows exactly what a womenswear collection needs to be commercial as well as creative.
The position is full-time and onsite at the Aaiko headquarters in Amsterdam, 40 hours a week, starting in September 2026. Applications go by email to Debbie@aaiko.com with the subject line "designer".
What you'll do
- Design and develop 4 Aaiko womens and 2 kids collections per year
- Spot and translate international fashion and lifestyle trends into designs for Aaiko
- Develop and work out concepts, colour cards, designs, technical drawings and tech packs
- Keep daily contact with suppliers for collection development from proto phase to samples
- Safeguard a good balance between fashion, commerciality and the recognisable AAIKO signature
- Actively participate in fittings and proto meetings
- Collaborate closely with Buying throughout development, also thinking about price and quality
- Join shopping trips, visit trade fairs and travel to production countries
- Present the collection to the Aaiko team
- Keep deadlines and overview across multiple collections and development phases
What you'll bring
- A completed, focused HBO (higher professional education) degree
- Strong affinity with fashion, brands and trends and a strong feel for colour, material, silhouette and styling
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably womenswear in the mid to higher segment
- Good technical product and fabric knowledge
- Good command of Dutch and English
- A creative and proactive attitude, an independent way of working and a love of creating together in a team
- Experience with Illustrator
- A sharp eye for detail, the ability to handle deadlines and the confidence to take initiative
