MR Marvis — Amsterdam, NLAbout the role
MR MARVIS is looking for a proactive Junior Designer to join the Product team in Amsterdam. Working closely with the Designer, you will help bring collections to life from initial concept through to final garment execution.
The role spans the full design lifecycle: research and creative ideation, technical sketching in Adobe Illustrator, and preparation for fittings, range reviews, and line openings. You will contribute to key product decisions, take ownership of follow-up actions, and keep the collection aligned with product performance, market insights, and customer feedback.
MR MARVIS builds menswear around slow-fashion principles, with timeless design and craftsmanship at the core of its shorts, trousers, and tops. For a designer early in their career, it is a chance to see how design choices travel from first sketch to finished garment.
What you'll do
- Support the Designer across the design lifecycle, from initial research and creative ideation to final product development and collection rollout
- Research market and trend directions in colors, fabrics, silhouettes, trims, and competitors, translating findings into moodboards, color palettes, and creative concepts aligned with design briefs
- Create and update technical sketches in Adobe Illustrator, keeping a precise, visual overview of the collection as styles, colors, and details evolve
- Contribute to key product decisions across the development cycle, building a thorough understanding of how products evolve from concept to finished garment
- Coordinate milestone design events, including fittings, range reviews, and line openings, with all samples, materials, and presentation spaces thoroughly prepared
- Take ownership of follow-up actions, independently translating briefs and meeting outcomes into well-structured proposals for review
- Align with product performance and market insights, collaborating with Merchandising and cross-functional teams to integrate customer feedback into the design process
- Organize and curate the design workspace, keeping sample libraries, fabric swatches, color cards, and trims accessible and up to date
What you'll bring
- 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, product development, or a related creative role
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, with a proven ability to craft detailed technical sketches and flat drawings
- Strong visual and creative sensibility, with an instinct for color, proportion, garment construction, and refined details
- Passion for menswear and industry trends, actively following market developments, textile innovations, and competitor offerings
- Curiosity for full-cycle product development, eager to understand how design choices translate into successful commercial products
- Proactive attitude and strong ownership, comfortable managing projects independently from brief to completion
- Excellent organization and meticulous attention to detail, capable of prioritizing multiple workflows seamlessly
- A balance of speed and quality, combining creative input with practical execution to support team goals efficiently
- A growth mindset, confident in sharing ideas while open to feedback and mentorship from senior team members
