As Head of Design Men, you are creatively responsible for Garcia's Men's collection, and jointly responsible for building, composing and realizing it. Together with the Division Manager Men you guard the Garcia handwriting. Every season you dive into trends, social feeds and street style, and you analyze previous seasons' collections. On that basis you develop the colour concepts and, together with the division manager, make sure all product groups tell one strong story. Then you work with the design team on a collection that is right and sells.
Your technical knowledge translates commercial ideas into tangible designs. You have a sharp fashion sense and a creative eye, and you understand exactly where design and commerce meet. An eye for colour, detail and a masculine, casual handwriting is second nature to you. You work intensively with the Division Manager Men, who holds final responsibility. The creative part is yours. You direct the collection and the colour story, and you spot trends. We are looking for someone who keeps the overview and moves the team forward.
What you'll do
- Guard the Men's handwriting and keep sharpening the collection
- Spot inspiration in social media, trade literature, shopping trips and trade fairs
- Follow developments in CSR and sustainability
- Work intensively with buying and product development to reach the best end product
- Think along on patterns, fits and quality
- Collaborate with marketing on collection shoots
- Report to the Division Manager Men and work closely with buying, product development, marketing and the other Heads of Design within Garcia
What you'll bring
- HBO (higher professional education) work and thinking level, preferably in fashion or design
- Experience in menswear
- At least 8 to 10 years as a designer, plus several years as senior designer within a fashion brand
- A strong team player who holds their ground in an energetic, changing workplace
- A systematic, goal-oriented worker who handles deadlines well
- A good command of Dutch and English
- A strong communicator who is hands-on and energetic
