About the role

Loungewear is a strategic growth pillar at Hunkemöller, and this full-time senior role is central to its success. Based in Hilversum on a hybrid working model, the Senior Loungewear Designer leads the end-to-end design vision, development, and execution of commercially successful, brand-right collections. The brief is to elevate the category, define its aesthetic direction, and drive business performance.

The role combines advanced creative leadership with deep consumer understanding and strong commercial acumen. You will turn brand strategy into innovative, trend-relevant, high-performing product, own key product areas, and support the designers around you. As a senior member of the design team, you influence cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to the long-term evolution of the brand's product offer.

02 — What you'll do

What you'll do

  • Lead design and development of the loungewear category from concept to final execution
  • Define seasonal direction and keep collections cohesive and elevated across every drop
  • Deliver innovative designs that balance creativity, comfort, functionality, and commercial viability
  • Own category performance against price architecture, margin targets, and business goals, and identify opportunities for category growth and innovation
  • Build a deep understanding of the Hunkemöller customer, focused on lifestyle, comfort, and homewear trends
  • Translate macro trends, cultural insight, and competitive analysis into forward-looking concepts
  • Monitor sell-through, customer feedback, and competitor activity to refine the design direction
  • Anticipate shifts in the loungewear market and position the brand ahead of trends
  • Guard and evolve brand identity within the category
  • Lead seasonal narratives, mood boards, and design concepts with emotional resonance
  • Keep materials, silhouettes, colours, and detailing consistent and innovative
  • Design with strong command of commercial drivers: margin, volume, and sell-through
  • Partner with Buying and Merchandising to align product strategy with business objectives
  • Use data, insight, and post-season analysis to optimise future collections
  • Balance long-term brand building with short-term trading opportunities
  • Lead collaboration across Design, Buying, Technical Development, Sourcing, and Marketing, communicating the creative vision at every level
  • Mentor junior designers and support a high-performing creative team
  • Deliver high-quality sketches, technical drawings, and detailed product specifications, and oversee fit sessions to protect fit, comfort, and construction
  • Lead fabric, trim, and colour development in line with the category direction, upholding quality and premium execution
  • Work within tight seasonal calendars and multiple product drops, responding quickly to trading performance and emerging opportunities
03 — What you'll bring

What you'll bring

  • Minimum 8+ years in fashion design, with strong loungewear, intimates, or adjacent category experience
  • A proven record of owning and growing a product category in a commercial fashion environment
  • A strong portfolio showing creative leadership, innovation, and commercial success
  • Expertise in product construction, fabrics, and garment engineering
  • Expertise in trend forecasting and consumer behaviour
  • End-to-end product development process experience
  • A strong understanding of the balance between brand storytelling and commercial performance
  • International retail or omni-channel experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
  • A CLO3D and AI mindset, with Adobe Creative Suite and PLM systems a plus
