The Senior Designer sits at the heart of the Jean Paul Gaultier studio, working directly with the Head Designer and the Artistic Director to bring Ready-to-Wear and Couture collections to life. This is a hands-on role that runs from the first sketch to final production, balancing creative research with solid technical follow-through.
You translate artistic direction into products that are original and feasible to make. That means designing across all categories, developing exclusive embellishments with artisans and manufacturers, and working every day with the atelier, product development, and textile teams.
Expect to be in fittings, refining silhouettes, and backstage at runway shows. This role is for a designer who wants to make things real, not just imagine them.
What you'll do
- Support the Head Designer from concept to final product, covering sketching, 3D development, technical drawings, prototypes, and the industrialization process
- Design and develop pieces across all product categories, from pre-collections to runway Ready-to-Wear, Couture, and capsules, aligned with the Artistic Director's vision and brand identity
- Develop creative concepts and communicate them through sketches, 3D prototypes, and detailed technical drawings
- Research and develop exclusive embellishment proposals in embroidery, prints, ornaments, and surface treatments, working with manufacturers and artisans
- Collaborate with the in-house atelier, product development, and textile teams to keep designs true to the brief on fabrics, drape, fit, and execution
- Participate in fittings and refine designs, implementing adjustments and finalizing styles with the development and production teams
- Monitor fashion trends and emerging graphic and design techniques to keep collections original and appealing
- Take part in runway show preparation, from final fittings to backstage activity
- Contribute to the daily life of the design studio, from initial collection development through to final delivery
What you'll bring
- Degree in Fashion Design or a related field
- Significant experience in luxury fashion design, ideally in Ready-to-Wear and/or Couture
- Strong creative sensibility and the ability to turn an Artistic Director's vision into commercially and aesthetically impactful products
- Excellent sketching, technical drawing, and visual communication skills
- Proficiency in 3D design and product development tools
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, textiles, embellishment techniques, embroidery, and artisanal craftsmanship
- Proven experience working with ateliers, product development, and production teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a busy, highly creative environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product excellence
- Curiosity and creativity, with an eye on fashion trends, craftsmanship innovations, and emerging design techniques
- A hands-on approach to fittings, prototype reviews, runway preparation, and day-to-day studio activities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Fluent English and French
