This role sits within the Apparel & Accessories Product Creation function, joining a dynamic, cross functional team dedicated to redefining what accessories can be. As the technical engine behind On's bags range, you will translate complex, innovative designs into market-ready products blending rigorous engineering with a relentless pursuit of performance excellence.

This is a senior individual contributor and leadership role that demands both deep hands-on technical expertise and the strategic mindset to guide cross-functional teams, mentor junior talent, and forge industry-first partnerships with world-class manufacturing partners.

02 — What you'll do

  • Deliver exceptional product quality by merging innovative manufacturing techniques with early stage material explorations to develop novel construction methods.
  • Partner closely with the Materials team to select and apply fabrics, trims, and components based on hard performance data and functional requirements.
  • Physically validate concepts through hands on prototyping building and manipulating physical samples to prove feasibility and functional logic of new construction methods before engaging external suppliers.
  • Ensure early-stage concepts function harmoniously with the human body in motion, validating fit, sizing, and ergonomics through a biomechanical lens to optimise performance and comfort.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and risk analysis on new constructions to identify and correct potential failure points before projects transition to the main development cycle.
  • Create, refine, and enforce a flawless standard for detailed Technical Packages (Tech Packs) and Bill of Materials (BOMs) within the PLM system.
  • Manage the overarching product development calendar, tracking milestones closely to ensure timely delivery of seasonal ranges.
  • Build and leverage strategic relationships with domestic and overseas suppliers; negotiate product costs and implement strict quality assurance practices to optimise margins without compromising product integrity.
  • Work dynamically with manufacturing partners to streamline sample turnaround times, proactively resolving production bottlenecks.
  • Act as a technical mentor to junior development staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning, technical excellence, and curiosity.
  • Guide cross-functional teams including Design, Product Management, and Sourcing to align on product execution and establish strategic external partnerships that introduce new, industry-first market differentiators.
